What Does a Backyard Water Slide Need?

An outdoor spigot, an outdoor outlet within 50 feet, clear level space and somewhere the water can drain safely. Requirements vary between units, so check the slide you want and call us before you book.

An outdoor spigot and hose

A working outdoor garden hose connection is all the plumbing you need. You supply a hose long enough to reach the top of the slide, and the spigot needs to be within 50 feet of the setup area.

An outdoor outlet within 50 feet

The blower keeps the slide inflated for the whole rental, so it needs a standard outdoor electrical outlet within 50 feet of where the slide sits.

Clear, level setup space

Clear furniture, toys and debris from the footprint. Flat, level ground matters more for water slides than for dry inflatables, and the space needs room for the blower, hose routing and a safe run-out at the bottom.

Gate and path access

You need a clear access path with a gate opening of at least 36 inches — 42 to 48 inches for large slides. Water slides are often taller and wider than standard inflatables, so have your measurements ready.

A suitable surface

Grass is preferred. Concrete or a patio may work with proper anchoring — tell us your surface when you book so we can confirm the plan.

Somewhere for water to drain

Water drains continuously from the slide while it runs, so we position it where pooling or runoff will not cause problems. Point out low spots and soft ground when you call.

Overhead clearance

We cannot set up under low overhead lines or branches that interfere with safe clearance for the inflated unit and blower placement. Send a yard photo if you are unsure.

Will a Water Slide Work in My Backyard?

It depends on the selected slide, available space, gate access, setup surface and where the water can safely drain. Call us with your yard details, and we'll help you identify which options may work for your setup.

  • Gate width
  • Slide dimensions
  • Surface type
  • Yard slope
  • Overhead obstacles
  • Water access
  • Drainage direction

Which Water Slide Is Right for Your Party?

Start with your guest list and your yard, then let us match a unit to both — age and weight limits and space requirements vary by slide, so the product data and a phone call beat guesswork.

Your children's ages

Age and weight limits vary by unit. Tell us who is coming and we will match a slide to your guest list rather than guessing from a photo.

How many kids you expect

Guest count affects which slide makes sense and how long the queue gets. Have a rough number ready when you call.

Slide height and footprint

Dimensions differ between the four slides above. Space requirements vary by unit, so we confirm the exact footprint for the one you want before booking.

Your yard, gate and utilities

Available space, gate width, setup surface, and where your spigot and outdoor outlet sit all narrow the list. Call (773) 683-1400 with those details.

Water slides are the units built for water play. If you want dry bouncing instead, see bounce house rentals, or Bounce N Slide rentals for bouncing, climbing and sliding in one unit. Ask us before booking if you want to know whether a specific Bounce N Slide unit can be run with water — that varies by unit and we will confirm it for you.
